Looking Back on 2004

On June 9, we celebrated our 20th Anniversary! Where have they gone? As we look back on those twenty years, we've moved 12 times and lived in 7 different communities all in Kansas. Little did Veva know that when she promised to go where Steve would go they would move this much. Steve also celebrated his 10th year with Southwestern College on December 12.

Peter, our senior, started up a new hobby - debate. They were able to get him in a shirt and tie. He really looked sharp. He competed at several tournaments and placed once. Peter also designed our youth web page. He did it for a class in school but also part of EFC youth ministry team. If you would like to view it go to: winfieldefc.org then click the youth link. Ruth, our junior, continues to play volleyball and her contra-alto clarinet. This past summer, we sent off Ruth on her first mission trip to Brazil. She went with 3 other youth and 1 leader from our church to serve with World Vision. She traveled up the Rio Negro on a medical boat visiting different villages that the World Vision works with. Our family trip in March was to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a week in the mountains. While we were there Steve and the kids went skiing. Steve relearned to ski and he found out that he isn't as young as he used to be. And the kids learned a new sport that they really enjoyed. Buel, Veva's nephew, came and helped relieve Steve of some times going up the mountain with the kids. We also visited our extended families during the summer. Steve and Veva traveled to Kentucky to the Ruggles Reunion in August while the Peter & Ruth went on a canoe trip. A highlight for them was when they stopped at the Answer In Genesis campus. They were given a tour of the creation museum that is being built south Cincinnati. It is going to be a great tool for people to use to bring the truth to an unsaved world. For more information go to: www.AnswersInGenesis.org In October, Veva also got to spend some time with her mom's sisters and brother - the Scherer Clan in Newton. It was fun to see aunts and uncle and hang out with them. In July, Peter and Ruth went to Challenge - EFC Youth Convention in Salt Lake City. They rode a bus for 23 hours and spent 5 days going to workshops, group worship, doing service projects and just hanging out.

Looking Ahead to 2005
Band Trip for Ruth In April, Ruth will be traveling with the WHS Concert Band to New York City and Washington D.C. They will be gone for 7 days (April 19 to 25) and will be playing two concerts, one in each city for a celebration of World War II. It should be a fun time for her and her friends. As you can see this has happened all ready! Graduation for Peter In May, Peter will be graduating from Winfield High School on Sunday, the 22nd at 2:00 p.m. You are invited to attend so mark your calendars and plan now to come. In the fall, Peter is planning on attending Southwestern College. He is excited about getting his own labtop computer.
Mission Trip for our Family From July 2 to July 13, God has called our whole family to go on a short-term mission trip to Jarabacoa, Dominion Republic through our youth group. Others who make up our team will be: Pastor Matt, Chris Law, Amanda Walker, Danielle Love, Kari & Emily Roth. While in the DR, we will be helping with some carpentry and repair at two of the local schools, in addition to the training center for YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Our team's goal is to be a witness to the community and a support to the full-time missionaries. Our team is building our support team. If you would like to be part of our team prayer support team please let Pastor Matt or one of us know. Your commitment to pray for our team is the most important support for which we could ask. Should you also sense the Lord's leading to support us financially (our team needs to raise $12000), you can do that with a check made payable to "Evangelical Free Church" with "Youth Mission 2005" in the memo line. Praise God we are at 58% of what our team needs so far. Thanks for allowing us to share with you what's happen in our lives and what is going to happen. We pray that this next year you will "...seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33) In Christ's Love, The Ruggles: Steven, Veva, Peter & Ruth
