Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Best Friends Serving the Lord Together for Thirty Years!

We started 2014 off with celebrating our 30th Anniversary on a cruise. Our actual anniversary wasn't until June 9th but we a got a good deal so we celebrated it early. Ruth, her friends Landon and Kylee and the two of us took off and drove down to Houston where we boarded our Carnival Cruise Boat. We visited Isla Roaton, Honduras where we toured the shopping area and laid out on the beach. Next we visited Belize where we went cave tubing. Our last place to visit was Cozumel where we rented mopeds and toured the island. We had a great time together.

Our kids are doing great. Peter is still living in Lawrence and attending KU. He is working on his doctrinal degree in Chemistry. He continues to enjoy bike riding and this year he rode his bike from Lawrence up to Minnesota about 616 miles. Ruth is still living in Wichita and has finished her 4th year with the same company working in HR compliance. She continues to enjoy traveling and spent three weeks in South Africa helping in an orphanage.

2014 brought helping our parents during major events in their life. In February, Veva's dad was having some medical problems and she helped him move into the Home with mom. They are enjoying once again being together. They finally figured out why Dad was not feeling well and he received a pacemaker and since has gotten his health under control. In May, Veva and Steve and her brother and sister met and started cleaning out the house. Sorting through 67 years of life was full of treasures, memories, and stuff. It involved deciding what to keep, what needed to be thrown away, and how to get it all back to Winfield.

The end of April brought a beginning of an unexpected event in Steve's mom's life. Veva got a call on the way to school that Pearl had been taken to hospital. They thought she had a stroke but after much testing it was discovered that she had stage 4 cancer in her brain. After 8 weeks, Mom Ruggles passed away at home on June 18. She has been greatly missed.

After beginning the training over 2 years ago, we finally took the plunge and started working with children in foster care in September. After 5 years of working in the school system, Veva quit to stay home to work with the children. We are licensed for 4 but are now working with a family of three who are two, five, & six years old. It has brought a change to our household with challenges and blessings.

If we keep Christ in our hearts, Christmas has no end!

The most important part about Christmas is the first six letters!

May your Heart and Home be filled with the true meaning of Christmas!
