Experiencing 2015 with the RUGGLES

Our daughter, Ruth, had a busy year
with her job as the US Compliance
Project Lead. She recently
implemented her final project,
introducing electronic applications
in production facilities. She also
made the decision to resign from
her position and make a huge life
change. She is preparing to move
to South Africa to volunteer with
Onthatile Children's Ministries,
a ministry that provides a home
for abandoned infants and children. Lord willing, she leaves on January
25th to spend at least a year at Onthatile. Ruth will bedoing office
work for the ministry plus helping take care of sweet babies. She will
also have opportunities to build relationships with locals with the
hope of sharing the gospel and people coming to saving faith in Christ.
She would love to share more about this opportunity with you and if you
are interested in receiving updates please email her at
ruth.ruggles@gmail.com.

Our son, Peter, is still working on
his graduate degree in analytical
chemistry. He passed his orals
exams in May. He was given a topic
and wrote a proposal over it in one
month. He defended it before his
committee at the end of that month.
He is currently doing research to
finish his degree as well as
teaching general chemistry lab at
the college. Peter continues to
enjoy running and biking. He
completed his second half marathon

this November. And he biked 234 miles in three days through a
thunderstorm and several mechanical problems.

      Last September 2014, we
started Foster Care in our
home. It was a great
experience fostering a
sibling set of 3. After
10 ½ months they were
united with their parents
the first part of August.
We took a break from
August until October to
do some projects around
the house. After almost
three months, we found ourselves with kids again. Our sibling group
of three (our original group of foster kids) were pulled back into
the system. We are praying it will get resolved fast.

While we were in between kids, we started the process of adopting
some kids and giving them a forever home. Some kids we know from
foster care became available for adoption and we felt the urge
from God to put our name in to be considered. Since then we have
been on a roller coaster ride of filling out paperwork to adopt
and waiting to see if God will open the door or close it. We are
learning to trust God for the outcome.

Family get together were part of our year. Over Memorial Day Weekend,
we started out first at Hoxie where Veva's family got together to
celebrate 90 years of life for her dad. Thirty eight of us gathered
together for ice cream party on Saturday and on Sunday a picnic dinner
at the Sheridan Long Term Care where Mom and Dad find their home.

We had three family reunions in Winfield. We interacted with the
Ruggles family, Smith Family (Part of the Brooks family which is
Steve's Grandma Ruggles family) and the Rule family (Steve's Mom's
family). We ate lots of yummy food, sat around and visited, and
listened to a Blue Grass Band.

      In August, we went
back to see the Ark
Encounter,
(www.arkencounter.com)
a life size ark being
built by Answers in
Genesis in
Williamstown,
Kentucky.
They put on a
Behind-the-Scenes
Family Celebration.
At the celebration, we started out at the Creation Museum listening to
updates on the ark. After lunch, we travel down to the site to see the
progress. We were able to ride a bus up close to see. The Ark Encounter
will be done next summer and we are planning on going to the grand
opening. We also visited cousins in Kentucky, Ohio, and Missouri.

Steve's Mom had wanted to paint a barn quilt and put it on their barn.
The class she wanted to take was full so she had to wait but she never
was able to take it. In August, Steve's sisters organized a group to
gather together and paint a barn quilt in honor of Pearl. Sharon,
Sonja, Steve, Veva, cousin Randy, Aunt Sara all helped paint the
quilt. In October we were able to hang it on the barn. Sharon painted
a gray brain cancer ribbon to honor her mother on it. Because of the
way it was hung, it was sideways so I had to climb up two flights of
scaffolds to repaint it.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
