What's it all about? All about that Baby! For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Happy New Year

...Peter continues to live in Lawrence and commutes to Topeka where he works in the Department of Health and Environment as a chemist. He continues to enjoy riding his bike, running and strength training.
...Ruth works in Johannesburg, South Africa with Onthatile Children's Ministries. She came back to the states from March until July to raise support so she could return for full time missionary work. It was good to have her home part of that time. She also enjoys discipling college age students to help them grow in their faith.
...Timothy completed 5th grade and is now in 6th grade at Trinity Lutheran School. He turned 12 in October. He received the First Book Ribbon from memorizing Bible verses in Awana and he also competed in the Bible Quizzing and his team placed 2nd. He also enjoys playing soccer, baseball and is learning to play the cello.
...Elizabeth turned 10 in January and completed 4th grade and is now in 5th grade at Trinity Lutheran School. She received the First Book Ribbon for memorizing Bible verses in Awana and she also competed in the Bible Quizzing and her team placed 1st. She also enjoys playing soccer.
...Jacob turned 7 in April and completed 1st grade and is now in 2nd grade at Trinity Lutheran School. He memorized Bible verses in Awana and received his 1st and 2nd Book Ribbon. He also participated in indoor and outdoor soccer.
...Daniel finished his first year in preschool at Winfield Early Learning Center. He turned 5 in July but we decided for his best interest another year of preschool would be good for him. He worked hard memorizing Bible verses in Awana so he earned his Honeycomb Ribbon in Cubbies. He also participated in indoor and outdoor soccer.
...Lydia turned 3 in October and started preschool in the 3 year old class at the Winfield Early Learning Center. She goes on Monday and Tuesday mornings which gives Veva 3 hours of alone time two mornings a week. She also graduated from her crib to a twin size bed and is completely potty trained. Yea!
...We have been trying to expand our living space. We purchased a shed to go in our backyard to move the stuff in the garage out there. We have successfully moved ¾ of the stuff out there and hope to finish soon so we can start our next stage. We have plans to remodel the garage and turn it into another bedroom so we can spread out.
...We had several gathering of family this year. In June, we hosted the Ruggles Reunion out at Steve's Dad farm and at Tisdale United Methodist Church and we also gathered together with the Brooks family in Winfield. It was great to see local and far away family members. Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend we headed out to Hoxie and spent time with Veva's Sister's Family and Mom. They were fun weekends playing with the kids, visiting with each other and interacting with mom.
...We survived a car accident. We were shopping in Wichita and we were t-boned when we were trying to cross traffic. The force of the impact of the accident caused our van to roll over on its side. It was quite a shock hanging on our sides. God had people in place to help us. People came out of the stores to get us out of the van going through the back working their way forward. They had us all out of the van before the police or the fire department arrived. God also had in place two couples who knew us who came and helped us with the kids, checking on us and helped us gather our belongings. One of them also called his mom and had her bring to us her extra van for us to get home and use for a while. We all walked away with minor injuries. Praise God for his protection and His provisions.
..."All About That Baby" was the Christmas play that our children participated in at our church. Timothy had a lead role of a shepherd boy who told the story about the birth of Jesus. Elizabeth was a sheep who was there when the angels appeared. Jacob and Daniel played wiseman and Lydia was a baby sheep. They really did a nice job.
In Christ's Service, Steve and Veva Ruggles
...We celebrated Veva's parents' lives. They will be greatly missed. All our families were able to gather together to share loving memories of their lives. Pneumonia was the cause of both their deaths. Dad (Lyman) died on April 14 and Mom (Doris) died on November 29.
