JESUS CAME FOR YOU!

This is AFR's (American Family Radio)
promotion for Christmas this year. Jesus
came down from heaven to restore God’s
original plan: A Relationship with Us!
Come on and Celebrate His Birth with
Us this Christmas Time.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
from the Ruggles Family

CELEBRATING 35 YEARS OF MARRIAGE!

We made it to another milestone, 35 years
of marriage. Our life continues to be very
eventful. With our seven children, we are
always busy with something. Steve
continues to work at Kansas Veteran’s Home
as IT Consultant. He just completed his
7th year. Veva continues to stay home
managing the family, house, and running
the kids around from place to place.
Our church continues to be part of our
life especially the Awana Program. Beside
our regular club night Veva coached a team
of Sparks for the Sparks-A-Rama and a team
of T & T clubbers for the Awana Quizzing.

CELEBRATING OUR DAUGHTER’S WEDDING!
We celebrated our 35th anniversary by seeing our
daughter, Ruth, get married. On June 9th, Ruth
married Keanon Hurst. Ruth and Steve share
a birthday and now she shares our anniversary
too! Ruth finished up serving in South Africa
in May and moved back to the states. Ruth and
Keanon are living in Nebraska where Ruth is
once again working in Human Resources with
the same company she worked for previously.
Keanon is doing his studies online through
Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and
working for UPS. We are celebrating new life!
We are going to be grandparents! Ruth and Keanon
are expecting a baby in March.

Peter was also at the wedding. He walked
Veva down the aisle and was an usher. He
continues to live in Lawrence working as a
Chemist. His job took him to work on an
assignment in Fort Dodge, Iowa throughout
the year. He still enjoys riding his bike,
running with his running club, playing board
games, building with Legos, and hanging out
with his girlfriend Laurel.

CELEBRATING 3+ YEARS OF ADOPTION!

On March 10, we celebrated three years of our children moving in with us and on
November 19, it was three years that they all became officially a Ruggles. Boy how
time flys by. Veva’s dad used to say that the days went slow but the years went
fast. How true it is.

Timothy finished 7th Grade at the Winfield Middle School and started 8th grade. He turned 14 in October and passed his driver test so he was able to get his learning permit. He is enjoying learning to drive. He continues to enjoy playing soccer, running in track, playing basketball and playing his cello. He finished his first book in the Trek Awana program and received the Trek Milestone Award.

Elizabeth finished 6th grade at Trinity and started 7th grade, also at the Winfield Middle School. She turned 12 in January. She continues to enjoy playing soccer, playing the clarinet and she tried basketball this fall. She finished her third book in Truth and Training Awana program and received the Third Book plaque.

Jacob finished 3rd grade at Trinity and started 4th grade. He turned 9 in April. He enjoys playing soccer. He finished his first book in Truth and Training and received his Alpha Award.

Daniel completed kindergarten at Trinity and started 1st grade. He turned 7 in July. He enjoys playing soccer. He finished his first book in Sparks and received the First Book Ribbon.

Lydia finished the 3 year old program to be at Winfield Early Learning Center and this year she is in the pre-kindergarten class. She finally was old enough to start soccer. She enjoys running, kicking and chasing the ball. She finished her first book in Cubbies and received the HoneyComb Award.

CELEBRATING FAMILY

This past year we had several family reunions. We
start off with the Ruggles Reunion here in Winfield.
It was great to spend some special time with Kristin,
Jane, Rex and Paula who travel in from far. We also
had the Brooks Reunion here in Winfield. It was great
to see many cousins come together to celebrate family.

Rule Reunion found us traveling back east to
Williamstown, Virginia. It was good to gather
together with cousins. While there we took the
kids around to see the historical cities of
Williamstown, Yorktown and Jamestown. We took
the kids to the Atlantic Ocean where we went
swimming, built sand castles and went on a ride
on a family bike. We rode on a trolley touring
Yorktown and a ferry crossing the James River.
On the way there and back, we were also able
to stop and visit several cousins and friends.
It was fun catching up.

Our last reunion for the year was the Adams Family.
We gathered together with Veva’s brother Lyman and
her sister Gloria and their family over Labor Day
weekend. All but one nephew and his family were
able to make it. We gathered at Acorn Resort
Milford Lake. We had great weather, lots of food,
fellowship, and fun.
