THE JOURNEY CONTINUES: THE RUGGLES 2022 JOURNEY

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Help us remember this season is
about the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ and for His love for us.

WE HAVE A GRANDSON!
Samuel Walter Hurst was born to
Ruth and Keanon on July 17. His
two big sisters, Chloe turned two
in February and Eva turned one in
May. Veva was able to spend two
weeks helping Ruth. Keanon is on
his last year at Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary and will
graduate in May. Their plans are to move to Alaska where Keanon will serve in an
intern position for 2 years. Thank God for phones, internet, and apps on phone like
MarcoPolo. We are able to see Chloe sing her ABC's, Eva says new words and Sammy
smiling and cooing.

WE CELEBRATED BIRTHDAYS!
Steve turned 61 in April. We are working on
him retiring in 2023. Veva turned 64 and
continues to be at home. Timothy turned 17,
Elizabeth 15, Jacob 12, Daniel 10 and
Lydia 8. Our tradition is that the person
gets to plan the meals for their birthday.
We had Daylight Donuts, Monkey Bread,
pancakes, Jambalaya, Chicken Nuggets,
Mac and Cheese, Crepes with Whip Cream
and Fruit and other yummy food.

WE STILL HAVE CHILDREN IN SCHOOL! Lydia finished
1st grade and started 2nd grade. Daniel finished 3rd grade and
started 4th grade. Both of them are, still at Trinity Lutheran School.
Jacob finished 6th grade at Trinity and started 7th grade at Winfield
Middle School. Elizabeth finished 9th grade and started 10th grade at
Winfield High School. Timothy finished his 10th grade and started
11th grade at WHS.

WE WATCHED A LOT OF ACTIVITIES! Soccer was the main
activity we watched. In Winter months, the Timothy, Jacob, Daniel
and Lydia did rec indoor soccer. In the Spring Elizabeth played High

School Girls Soccer while Jacob, Daniel and Lydia played Spring Rec outdoor soccer.
In fall, Timothy played High School Boys Soccer while Jacob,Daniel and Lydia did Fall
Rec Soccer. We also watched Timothy hit a tennis ball since he went out for WHS Tennis.
Lydia continues to do Ballet. She finished her 2nd year doing a recital in May. In the fall
she began her third year doing ballet. Timothy and Jacob continued to play the cello so we
watched several concerts. In the fall, Elizabeth started choir and we have watched her
choir do Starry Night Concert and other concerts.

WE WENT ON A TWO-WEEK VACATION!
We camped out most of the time. We found some really
nice Campgrounds. We went to the St Louis Arch and
went to the top. We stopped at Casey, Illinois and saw
the biggest wind chimes, rocking chair, mail box, and
other things. We went to the Creation Museum and the
Ark Encounter. We stopped at Six Flags and rode a lot
of rollercoasters, a Ferris Wheel and other rides. We
ended our trip in Branson where we saw an illusionist
and the Haygood Family Music Concert. It was a fun
trip. We also spent time with the Ruggles Cousins in
Kentucky and saw some old friends. Also this year Veva
was able to hang out with the Adams Cousins while they

celebrated their Aunt and Uncles life. It was great seeing cousins.

WE ALL ARE INVOLVED IN OUR CHURCH IN AWANA! Steve helped with the
presentation during opening ceremony and listening to Sparks verses. Veva helped with
Sparks in the first part of the year but in the Fall she did the Awana Secretary. Timothy
continues to help with Sparks and Elizabeth on Cubbies. Jacob finished Truth and Training
and received his Timothy Award after finishing his 4th book. In the Fall he started Trek.
Daniel finished his first book in Truth and Training and earned his Alpha Award. In the
fall he started his second year. Lydia finished her 2nd book in Sparks and received her
Second book Ribbon. She started her last year in Sparks in the Fall.

WE HAVE A SON WHO RUNS!
Peter just ran his first half marathon after
having knee surgery. He continues to live in
Lawrence and working as a chemist.

WE HAD TO HELP OUT VEVA SINCE SHE HAD FOOT SURGERY IN AUGUST!
It has been a long healing process. She has had a splint for 2 weeks, a cast for 4 weeks,
a walking boot for 4 weeks and last physical therapy for 6 weeks. It has limited her from
doing things around the house and driving the kids around to their school and activities.
Our family had to really step up and do a lot of things that she normally did or it was
just left undone.
